Big Buddha Villa is a spacious and elegant home overlooking Samui’s most famous landmark on Big Buddha beach. The 12 metre high golden Buddha statue sits serenely above it’s temple on the island of Koh Farn, connected to the mainland by a causeway. Arranged over three floors, the villa features panoramic sea views over Big Buddha bay, Koh Phangan and Angthong Marine Park.
A few steps from the beach, the raised ground floor entrance leads into a reception room with polished hardwood flooring that continues throughout the house. French doors lead out to a large rounded balcony, and sliding antique wooden doors open onto the hallway and staircase. A large formal dining room connects to a generous fitted kitchen, and also has French doors onto the balcony. The owner’s collection of South East Asian antiques and artifacts with a Chinese accent enriches the décor of the villa. A ground floor bathroom with shower is located under the wooden staircase leading up to the second floor, past an enormous stained glass window.
Three large en-suite bedrooms open off the second floor landing, each with sea views and air-conditioning. The master bedroom has large windows on three sides, a king size giant bamboo bed, and bathroom with tub. The second bedroom is arranged as a study with writing desk, and has an adjoining raised platform sleeping area, with king size bed, and marble bathroom with tub. The third bedroom has twin beds, and a bathroom with power shower.
The top floor of the villa has a second kitchen and living room, with TV, DVD, VCR, and stereo. Concertina wooden framed glass doors open onto large balconies on two sides, each with fantastic sea views. Al fresco dining for six is set up on one of the balconies, which is an ideal location for enjoying the sunset over the bay.
Big Buddha Villa is very conveniently located, with a wide range of shops, bars, and restaurants within walking distance, as well as the island’s best seafood market, which also sells fresh produce. Big Buddha beach offers a 4 kilometre stretch of palm-fringed sandy beach, and an array of watersports and marine activities; yacht charters, speedboat excursions, SCUBA courses, and fishing trips can all be arranged locally. Chaweng’s main tourist drag, and the more ‘boutique’ Bophut Fisherman’s village are both 5 minutes drive away, and a number of other beaches can be explored within 5 minutes drive.
The villa includes daily maid service, linens, and towels, and is very competitively priced due to the lack of a swimming pool.
