The population is about 1800 inhabitants, and the local Bahamians have become prosperous here with their lobster fishing. The homes in this village are quaint and colorfully painted. The town combines modern conveniences with local island charm. There are three grocery stores, about four restaurants, a few souvenir shops, a nice marina, and a museum. In the Food Fair Plaza, there is a bank and internet access shop. The town has a friendly atmosphere, and many of the locals wave to tourists as they pass by on their golf carts.
